Happy Birthday to my Blog!

I just noticed that 2 years ago yesterday was when I created this blog! For the first year it was just to get help in identifying old family photos (which explains the blog name....)
Wow. Time has flown....

Busy Saturday!

Today Darrin & Brynn planted the last of our corn:

And we did a myriad of various chores around the house, and grocery shopping, etc.
And tonight, Darrin & I went hiking again, this time to a waterfall that is just a short (but steep) hike up the side of the mountain:



While we were out, Darrin noticed that Kyra, the little stinker, had stuck a note on my back! It says "On Bike" which is a inside joke that would be a long story and not very funny in the end.

Darrin played with his GPS and I took pictures!

And on the way back to the car I spotted this - and HAD to get a picture!

Good News/Bad News

The good news is....
We have a family of baby birds living in one of our trees!



The bad news is....
In discovering their nest, we discovered our big pear tree is hollow inside the trunk. One good windstorm and we'll likely lose it!

Even Whirlier!

So so in addition to all the school stuff, in the last week:
Darrin & I saw Ironman (his turn to pick the movie!)
Everyone saw "Horton Hears a Who" (from the way Brynn screamed in terror through it, you would have thought it was a slasher movie!)
Kyra attended a party and had friends over for a movie
Had a cookout with the Lythgoes (but had to eat-in due to rain!)
We went to the cemetary for Memorial Day:


Callie finally saved up enough to buy a scooter:


And Brynn started learning how to ride a bike!



We went to the park:



I learned it is HARD to take a picture while you're on the swings:

I just finished the second of two online presentations to my students, too.
And if that's not enough.......

I had a birth this week, too!

Whirlwind!

It's the end of the year perfomance-palooza! Just since Wednesday, we have had:
Spring choir:


The kindergarten "Year in Revue":



The fourth grade "All About Utah" program:


And "wax museum" of famous Utahns:

And Brynn learned to use the school cafeteria:



And that's JUST the school-related stuff this week. And there are STILL more events: The kindergarten field day, the 4th grade field day, and the dance festival!
I'll have to do another post for the non-school stuff we've had going on later. But right now I have to go do an online presentation for my students, give baths, and finish laundry.
I'm tired.

A post! A post! Finally a post!

Long time no blog. Sorry!
Here's what's been happening here:
Not QUITE done with the bathroom yet. Maybe later today.
Mother's day was nice, the kids got/made/picked me some nice things:


And the weather was beautiful, too!
I got a new camera, and I have been fun playing with it and learning what it can do. One evening last week, Darrin & I hiked up the side of the mountains nearby for some sunset pictures:


And I've been playing around with depth of field as well:

And action shots! The girls were nice enough to twirl themselves dizzy for me:


And the end-of-year stuff has begun! Brynn has a field trip to Thanksgiving Point where we went to the petting zoo and learned about farm animals. She got to ride the bus:

Brynn made up a joke today:

Mom, there are three kinds of cell phones!
(Me, really? What are they?)
First, there's regular cell phones like you have 'cause you're a doula.
Then, if you're in jail and have a phone, it's a cell phone because you live in a cell.
And the third kind, is when you take a piece of celery and carve it into a phone! GET IT? CELL PHONE!!!

And she rolls on the floor laughing at her own joke. She cracks me up.

Why I haven't been blogging lately....

And all this on top of my normal load of parenting, household stuff, births, grading papers, teaching, etc. It's still not done but should be done by the end of the week. I'll post official before & after shots when it is all done.
