Guest Blogger: Kyra reports on girl's camp!

Hello everybody! This past week our stake went to Heber Valley Camp for girls camp (or the "Temple in the Mountains," as they called it) that was dedicated by President Hinckley before he died.

it was gorgeous up there.

Day one:
We came to the church at 7:45 and had breakfast there, then went into the gym to have a little "camp-kickoff" meeting. Each ward had have a name, a cheer, and a yell. Our name was, "The Andalasian Enchantresses" (like in "Enchanted"), our cheer: "We're from Andalasia, princesses are we. We're happy to be here, to get to know all thee," and our yell was the call Giselle does when she is calling the animals. (They used these yells for roll calls-- "Third ward are you here?" etc.)
During the meeting the first counselor in the stake presidency said a prayer, and he said that there would be ministering angels with us "on this side and the other side of the veil."
After the prayer we got in the buses and drove to the camp. As we neared the camp we saw these flags in all of the young women value colors.:

Once we were there, we all gathered in the ampitheatre and had a flag ceremony. My friend Kristin and I were in the color guard.

After the ceremony we had lunch, and then ward time for the rest of the day, then dinner. Each night at dinner there was a different theme; tonight's was "oriental," so we all had chop sticks in our hair, and we ate teriyaki rice.
During the afternoon, you'll never guess what I found.

That evening, we had a divotional on "stregthening home and family," and we did a "baby relay" where two girls were the "babies" and the other girls had to run down, put the bib on them, then feed them the baby food, etc. I felt really bad for them, especialy Aubrey. She almost threw up when her sister was feding her.

Day two:
Today we woke up early to make breakfast for the other wards that we shared a pavilion with, then after breakfast we packed up and went to the challenge course. There were lots of challenges to do, such as the up-and-over, where we had to get, well, up and over this log. The only trick was that once you were over, you couldn't help those on the other side. This girl was the last, so she had no one to help her, except the girl sitting on the log.

There was also a zip line:

This is me chickening out of the zip line. (I hate heights)

When we got back to camp, we went to the ampetheaiter to watch the leaders from each ward do a skit. This was by far the strangest one:

They were doing the hokey-pokey this way. My ward's skit was about a mom cooking with children, and they were trowing flower at each other and everything. The one with the microphone is the mom.

And we even had a visit from some very famous judges. The woman on the end was both Simon and Randy.

After the skits we had dinner, this time Mexican themed.

We ate "Cafe Rio salads" that were not very good, and had a limbo contest.

After dinner we went on a hunt for the "singing tree"

I don't know if you can see it, but one of our leaders is in there singing.
We also took group pictures.

That night we had a devotional on temple marriage, and made wedding dresses out of toilet paper.

Day Three:
Today we did certification in the morning, then after lunch we went and practiced our skits. I was in the ward skit, and the youth leaders one, because they did not have enough youth leaders. Our group skit was a commercial for a product the gave us, Head and Shoulders Dandruff shampoo!
This is our spokesperson for the product (yes it's a wig):

We had dinner (island themed), performed our skits for the stake, had our devotional and went to bed.

Day Four:
This morning we went for a hike to "Lookout Point," and it did have a very good view. This is the lake we went to in the afternoon.

We could see the "sleeping princess"

After the hike, we had lunch and hiked down to Legacy Lake. We went canoeing, but I didn't take my camera in the canoe, which was a good thing, since my leaders snuck up on my and Kristin in our canoe and drenched us with their paddles. (Don't worry- we got them back) This is the lake,

and a view of Lookout point where we went in the morning.

Then we went up to the pavillion for dinner. That night instead of a theme, they had us all wear a white shirt, and the table was set nicer then before, etc. after we ate we cleared the tables away so we could all turn our chairs to face front and we watched a slideshow of pictures of the girls in our stake. After the slideshow the stake patriarch spoke, followed by the stake president. Then we all sang "The Spirit of God" together. I don't know if the others felt it, but I was sure there were angels singing with us.
After dinner we divided into wards for testimony meeting, and that was by far the best part of camp. I love how every year, there are always people who say that they will just watch, but it ends up with every girl bearing her testimony. Well, except for one girl, and she fell asleep.

Day Five:
Today we woke up and packed very quickly, so we could eat and go home.
This is our cabin:

and this is my bunk (bottom)
