Happy Independance Day!

We'll be hosting a BBQ for the Lythgoe side of the family. But for your viewing pleasure, here are some pictures of our 2003 trip where we celebrated the holiday in Washington DC. It was the hottest, most humid day I have ever experienced, and the security was INSANE! We watched the parade:

Went to the Museum of American History:

(No, we weren't doing a Holocaust thing. We wrote Preston's cell phone number on the kids arms and told them if they got lost, they should find a policeman and have him call the number!) We saw a flag that hung over the World Trade Center on 9/11:

Among other things:

The heat & humidity got the worst of Brynn and she threw up in the museum. The star-spangled dress she is wearing was the cheapest thing in her size at the gift shop.
And then hung out on the mall for what seemed like HOURS:

Killed time looking at some booths:

And during a potty break in the Ronald Reagan office building (where we parked) Brynn took her first steps! Yes, she finally walked on the 4th of July in our nation's capital!
And it FINALLY started to get dark:

We could hear the music from the band under the tent!
And, at long last, the FIREWORKS!

It was an exhausting day, but one we will always remember!

It probably wasn't the best idea to where jeans and a long sleeve shirt on the hottest day ever!
